Removal of the uterus (hysterectomy)

When removal of the uterus (hysterectomy) is necessary, in line with the recommendations of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) and the Polish Society of Gynaecologists and Obstetricians (PTGiP), our first choice is the vaginal approach, which leaves no visible scars.

Vaginal hysterectomy

We perform hysterectomy, i.e. surgery to remove the uterus, in cooperation with Garden Clinic Hospital in Gdańsk. The first choice is the vaginal approach — without visible scars — in line with the recommendations of ACOG and the Polish Society of Gynaecologists and Obstetricians (PTGiP).

Laparoscopic hysterectomy and laparotomy

When the vaginal approach is not possible, the next choice is laparoscopy and, as a last resort, laparotomy.

VNOTES hysterectomy

VNOTES (Vaginal Natural Orifice Transluminal Endoscopic Surgery) is a surgical approach through a natural body opening, the vagina, combining the advantages of laparoscopic and vaginal surgery. Removal of the uterus is one of the applications of VNOTES. For comparison, the incision sites with different approaches:

  • conventional surgery — a transverse incision in the lower abdomen
  • laparoscopy — several small incisions
  • robotic surgery — several incisions on the abdomen
  • VNOTES — no incisions on the abdomen

Benefits of VNOTES:

  • no visible scars
  • shorter hospital stay
  • faster return to activity
  • less pain after surgery
